Freepoint hires senior gas trader

Andy Cumming, head of U.K. gas trading at Total Gas & Power in London, is set to join Freepoint Commodities.

Cumming handed in his resignation within the last few days and is expected to leave the French energy company next month.

He is set to join Freepoint as head of European gas trading this September, says a source.

Cumming spent close to 14 years at Total in a variety of trading roles. He previously worked at British Steel in a sales and marketing position.

Freepoint has made several European gas trading hires, since setting up an office in London late last year.

Last month, Rakesh Patel, a gas trader at Citi in London, resigned to join Freepoint. In March, the commodity merchant hired David Gant, formerly with Sempra Energy Europe, as a gas trader in London.
