Freepoint Commodities has hired Peter Ford, a former senior energy originator at Morgan Stanley, as a managing director in Stamford, Conn.
Ford joined the commodities merchant today as head of power & gas structuring, SparkSpread has learned.
He left Morgan Stanley last May.
Ford was part of a trio of RBS Sempra Commodities managing directors that joined Morgan Stanley’s power & gas group in Purchase, N.Y., in 2009.
At Morgan Stanley, Ford focused on power and gas origination, and led several high-profile commodity hedge transactions for conventional and renewable power facilities in the ERCOT and PJM regions.
Prior to RBS Sempra and its predecessor company, Sempra Energy Trading, Ford spent some eight years in structured origination at the former FPL Energy.
