Freepoint Commodities has hired Andrew Gygax, an executive director of energy & emissions trading at J.P. Morgan in London.
Gygax is joining Freepoint in London as a senior trader, focused on cross-commodity products, SparkSpread has learned.
Freepoint has made several other recent energy trading hires in London, including Nicolay Janss Lafond, formerly with Mercuria Energy Group, who joined as a continental power trader; and Francois de Nanteuil, formerly a vice president of European power trading at Morgan Stanley.
Gygax joined J.P. Morgan in 2010 as part of its purchase of RBS Sempra Commodities’ European operations, where he was head of emissions trading.
Previously, he was head of emissions trading at Constellation Energy and a power and emissions trader at E.ON and TXU Europe.
