Freepoint Commodities has hired a pair of natural gas traders in Houston.
David Orlik and B. Austin Berger, Houston-based gas traders at Macquarie and Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners, respectively, recently joined Freepoint, SparkSpread has learned.
Berger, who joins as a director covering mid-Atlantic gas trading, spent eight months at Engelhart. He previously traded gas for Citi, Statoil and BP
Orlik, who joins as senior v.p. trading Gulf Coast gas, spent nine years at Macquarie, working in finance and energy structuring in Los Angeles and Houston, before moving onto the bank’s gas trading desk in 2013.
Earlier this fall, Houston-based Rich Brockmeyer, head of natural gas trading, resigned from Freepoint, as first reported by SparkSpread on Sept. 23.
