Freepoint lands J.P. Morgan exec director

Utomo Odozi, formerly executive director and head of EMEA cross-commodity analysis at J.P. Morgan, is set to join Freepoint Commodities.

He joins Freepoint in London next month to head up its fundamental analysis team, SparkSpread has learned.

Like many Freepoint employees, Odozi is a RBS Sempra Commodities/Sempra Trading alumnus.

He spent four years at RBS Sempra before the trading firm’s European unit was acquired by J.P. Morgan in 2010.

He previously worked as an analyst in the energy trading groups of Barclays Capital and American Electric Power.

Freepoint was established in late 2010 by David Messer, Frank Gallipoli and Rob Feilbogen, respectively, the former chief executive, president, and chief operating officer of RBS Sempra Commodities.

It began building a European office in London last October.
